Goal setting process during performance management

The Process

Problem framing phase


As we started to build an integrated offering of our existing products. There were numerous Navigational and overall user experience issues.

PeoplePeopleCues = People + Cu (Culture) + E (Engagement) + S (Scale).


User pain points


Breaking down all the steps involved in creating a goal and adding it to the review cycle made it clear that there were navigational issues which had to be addressed. As the OKR and Performance review were two different products, the UX of the flows were designed and developed independently.


User research - focus groups


  • Gather feedback on areas for improvement from managers/admins who will be part of the session to improve the product.

  • Reassure team members that their feedback is heard and they can expect improvement.

  • Understand the various pain points experienced by the user, and the severity of each to help prioritise ongoing fixes.

  • Get early feedback on new designs and improvements on the PeopleCues tool attempting at solving some of the pain points



Session Structure


  • 2 users (Admin/Manager) who have been part of a PeopleCues review cycle.

  • Inputs on both the objective module creation flow and review module task and process 

  • Each session would last for 30-45 mins and would be conducted over Zoom.


A - Objectives defined during the start of the cycle

B - Objectives created in retrospect - during the review process

C - Objectives created during the start and few updated in retrospect





The Results

Final designs cannot be shared due to NDA. This is my current project which is a work in progress.
